My Teaching Pedagogy

A description of my approach to instruction, course design and curriculum development

In these videos, I attempt to describe and illustrate the ways in which I typically design, prepare and teach my courses across a semester. The videos should - hopefully - also help communicate some of the fundamentals of outlook, style, personal disposition, priorities, objectives, target student competencies, etc. that I deem of crucial importance if I am to be an effective instructor - the sort who strives to be motivating and inspirational if he is to help his students by making a positive and long-lasting impact on their lives and careers. Thus, the kind of instructor who conscientiously undertakes their immediate responsibility of helping the students grasp the subject matter in a deliberate, meticulous, process that has them convinced of the value in the learning experience; an experience which leaves them persuaded of the strong likelihood that its value could not be easily replicated if they were - for example - to learn the material on their own, outside of my class.

Chapter 5 / Closing 15 Minutes

Description of the typical closing 15 minutes of a semester’s final class, during which I attempt to motivate the students to appreciate the impact that they stand to make with their learning, their lives and their careers; the challenges that will invariably arise; and their capacity to muscle through them. The intent is to encourage and inspire them to never give up on their unique value as a individual and distinct person, possessed of unique gifts, talents and skills.
